A Bill for

An Act to repeal the Exhibition Park Corporation Act 1976, and for other purposes













The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:



1 Name of Act

This Act is the Exhibition Park Corporation Repeal Act 2009.

2 Commencement

(1) Section 4 and schedule 1, part 1.2 commence on the day after this Act’s notification day.

Note The naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

(2) Section 3 commences on 30 June 2009.

(3) Schedule 1, part 1.1 commences on 1 July 2009.

3 Legislation repealed

(1) The Exhibition Park Corporation Act 1976 (A1976-1) is repealed.

(2) All legislative instruments under the Exhibition Park Corporation Act 1976 (A1976-1) are repealed.

4 Legislation amended—sch 1

This Act amends the legislation mentioned in schedule 1.

Part 30 Transitional—Exhibition Park Corporation Repeal Act 2009

300 Legislation Act, s 84 inapplicable

(1) To remove any doubt, the Legislation Act, section 84 (Saving of operation of repealed and amended laws) does not apply in relation to a member of the governing board of the Exhibition Park Corporation.

(2) However, if a member of the board is a public servant, this section does not affect any right, privilege or liability that the person has as a public servant.

(3) This section is a law to which the Legislation Act, section 88 (Repeal does not end effect of transitional laws etc) applies.

301 Transitional regulations

(1) A regulation may prescribe transitional matters necessary or convenient to be prescribed because of the enactment of the Exhibition Park Corporation Repeal Act 2009.

(2) A regulation may modify this part (including in relation to another territory law) to make provision in relation to anything that, in the Executive’s opinion, is not, or is not adequately or appropriately, dealt with in this part.

(3) A regulation under subsection (2) has effect despite anything elsewhere in this Act or another territory law.

This part expires 2 years after the day it commences.
