The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory enacts as follows:


1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Local Government Amendment Act (No. 2) 2001.

2. Commencement
This Act is to be taken to have come into operation on 1 July 2001.

3. Councils and titles
Section 5 of the Local Government Act is amended –

(a) by omitting from paragraph (c) "or";

(b) by omitting from paragraph (d) "Council." and substituting "Council; or"; and

(c) by adding at the end the following:
