2015 A Bill for An Act to provide for a referendum on the Constitution (Fixed Term Parliament) Amendment Bill 2015

 


 

Constitution (Fixed Term Parliament) Referendum Bill 2015 [s 1] The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1 1 Short title 2 This Act may be cited as the Constitution (Fixed Term 3 Parliament) Referendum Act 2015. 4 2 Bill to be submitted to electors 5 (1) This section applies if the Constitution (Fixed Term 6 Parliament) Amendment Bill 2015 is passed by the 7 Legislative Assembly. 8 (2) In accordance with the Constitution Act Amendment Act 1934, 9 section 4, the Constitution (Fixed Term Parliament) 10 Amendment Bill 2015 is to be submitted for the approval or 11 otherwise of the electors qualified to vote for the election of 12 members of the Legislative Assembly. 13 3 How vote is to be taken 14 (1) For the purpose of section 2, a referendum is to be held under 15 the Referendums Act 1997. 16 (2) However, despite the Referendums Act 1997, section 6, the 17 polling day for the referendum is to be a day appointed by the 18 Governor in Council that is at least 2 months after the 19 Constitution (Fixed Term Parliament) Amendment Bill 2015 20 is passed by the Legislative Assembly. 21 (3) Also, despite the Referendums Act 1997, section 21, a person 22 who is entitled to vote at an election for the members of the 23 Legislative Assembly is entitled to vote at the referendum. 24 Authorised by the Parliamentary Counsel Page 4
