(1) The mayor of a council may convene council meetings.(2) The general manager of an existing council is to convene the first ordinary meeting of a council following an ordinary election.(3) The Minister is to convene the first ordinary meeting of a newly established council on a date determined by the Minister.(4) An ordinary meeting of a council is to be held at least once in each month.(5) The general manager is to convene an ordinary meeting of a council if the mayor has not convened such a meeting in the previous calendar month.(6) The mayor of a council, or the general manager if the mayor has not done so, must convene a special meeting of the council at the request of a majority of councillors.(7) A request for a special meeting of a council must (a) be in writing and signed by the councillors; and(b) include details of the subject matter and any motion to be dealt with by the meeting; and(c) be lodged with the mayor.(8) The mayor of a council, or the general manager if the mayor has not done so, must convene a special meeting of the council if the council so determines.
