VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC (VEHICLE OPERATIONS) NOTICE 2006 (S.R. 2006, NO. 81) - REG 18

Conditions on exemption of certain pig trailers

The exemption under clause 17 of a person using, or causing or permitting the use of, a pig trailer is subject to the following conditions:
(a) the rear overhang of the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, must not exceed 5 metres;
(b) the length of the combination, inclusive of its load, must not exceed 25 metres;
(c) the towing vehicle must display headlights on low beam while travelling during daylight;
(d) if travelling in daylight, a red flag must be affixed to the rearmost point of the load;
(e) if travelling at night, a red light must be affixed within 200 millimetres of the rearmost point of the load;
(f) if the length of the combination, inclusive of its load, exceeds 19 metres, an oversize vehicle warning sign specified in Division 2 of Part 2 of Schedule 3 to the Vehicle Operations Regulations must be displayed at the front and rear of the combination;
(g) if the rear overhang of the pig trailer, inclusive of its load, exceeds 3.7 metres, an oversize vehicle warning sign specified in Division 2 of Part 2 of Schedule 3 to the Vehicle Operations Regulations must be displayed at the front and rear of the combination.
