A Bill for an Act to amend the Synod Act 1988

SYNOD ACT AMENDMENT ACT 2000

Be it enacted by the Bishop the Clergy and the Laity of the Anglican Church of Australia in the Diocese of Ballarat duly met in Synod according to law as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the ‘Synod Act Amendment Act 2000’.

2. Section 4 of the Synod Act 1988 is amended by replacing the full-stop at the end of that Section with a comma, and by adding the words:

‘provided that, in the case of an electoral district in which there is more than one full-time stipendiary clergyman in accordance with recommendations of the Diocesan Pastoral Committee, such electoral district shall elect an additional lay representative and an additional supplementary representative for each such additional full-time stipendiary clergyman.”

3. The Synod Act 1988 as amended may be cited as the ‘Synod Act 1988-2000’.
