WANGARATTA DIOCESAN ASSESSMENT ACT 1982 (WANGARATTA DIOCESE)

AN ACT

TO ESTABLISH A DIOCESAN ASSESSMENT


Preamble

WHEREAS 1. The income of the Diocesan Fund as established by the Church Funds Act 1939 is insufficient to meet those items of expenditure for which that income is charged by that Act.

2. As at the thirty first day of December One thousand nine hundred and eighty-one the accumulated deficit in the Diocesan Fund was TWENTY-TWO THOUSAND EIGHTY HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($22,855.00).

3. To liquidate this deficit and to increase the income of the Diocesan Fund in future years it is expedient that the Vestry or Council (as the case may be) of each Parish at the times when required pay into the Diocesan Fund monies as assessed in the manner provided by this Act.

BE it enacted by the Bishop the Clergy and the Laity of the Anglican Church of Australia within the Diocese of Wangaratta duly met in Synod according to law as follows:


Short title
1. This Act may be cited as "The Diocesan Assessment Act 1982".


Definition
of Diocesan Assessment

2. In this Act the expression "Diocesan Assessment" where the context so admits shall mean the sum which each Parish of the Diocese is assessed by the Bishop-in-Council to pay to the Diocesan Fund.

Payment of Assessment

3. Each Parish shall pay to the Bishop's Registry for crediting to the Diocesan Fund the Diocesan Assessment by the due date or if paying is to be made by instalments by the due dates for payment thereof.

Determination
of the Sum

4. Each year the Bishop-in-Council shall determine the Diocesan Assessment for each Parish for the ensuring financial year and when it or each instalment thereof as the case may be is to be paid.

Notification of Assessment

5. On the making of each determination each Parish shall be notified by the Bishop's Registry of the amount of the Diocesan Assessment it is to pay and the mode of payment.
