TRANSPORT (TOW TRUCK) REGULATIONS 2005 (SR NO 136 OF 2005) - REG 24

Authorised tow truck must attend

r. 24

    (1)     Subject to regulation 25, the operator of a tow truck must ensure that after a tow truck is authorised under regulation 23(1) to attend an accident scene—

        (a)     the tow truck attends the accident scene within 30 minutes of being given the authorisation; and

        (b)     the Allocation Centre is immediately notified when the tow truck arrives at the accident scene; and

        (c)     the Allocation Centre is immediately notified when the tow truck departs from the accident scene and is given the details of the damaged vehicle being towed.

Penalty:     30 penalty units.

    (2)     If the operator is unable to meet the requirements of sub-regulation (1)(a), the operator must immediately notify the Allocation Centre.

Penalty:     20 penalty units.

    (3)     The requirements of sub-regulation (1)(a) cease to apply if the operator or a person at the authorised depot or authorised office is notified by the Allocation Centre that the authorisation is cancelled under regulation 26(1).

    (4)     The officer in charge of the Allocation Centre must not give more than one authorisation to a tow truck at any one time.
