Mr Mark McGowan, MLA) Criminal Code Amendment (Domestic Violence) Bill 2012 A Bill for An Act to amend The Criminal Code. The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows: page 1 Criminal Code Amendment (Domestic Violence) Bill 2012 s. 1 1 1. Short title 2 This is the Criminal Code Amendment (Domestic Violence) 3 Act 2012. 4 2. Commencement 5 This Act comes into operation as follows -- 6 (a) sections 1 and 2 -- on the day on which this Act 7 receives the Royal Assent (assent day); 8 (b) the rest of the Act -- on the day after assent day. 9 3. Act amended 10 This Act amends The Criminal Code. 11 4. Section 281 amended 12 In section 281(1) delete "liable to imprisonment for 10 years." 13 and insert: 14 15 liable -- 16 (a) if the offence is committed in circumstances of 17 aggravation, to imprisonment for 20 years; or 18 (b) in any other case, to imprisonment for 10 years. 19
