An Act to amend the Environmental Protection Act 1986.



The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1    1.           Short title
2                 This is the Environmental Protection Amendment (Clearing for
3                 Fire Risk Reduction) Act 2017.

4    2.           Commencement
5                 This Act comes into operation as follows --
6                  (a) sections 1 and 2 -- on the day on which this Act
7                        receives the Royal Assent;
8                  (b) the rest of the Act -- on the day after that day.

9    3.           Act amended
10                This Act amends the Environmental Protection Act 1986.

11   4.           Schedule 6 amended
12                In Schedule 6 after item 14 insert:

14          15.         Clearing that --
15                        (a) is done to minimise the risk of flames contacting a
16                              private dwelling-house; and
17                        (b)   is not more than 25 m from the private
18                              dwelling-house; and
19                        (c)   is done in a way that limits damage to neighbouring
20                              native vegetation.
