Western Australia LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY (Introduced by Dr Gallop) Occupational Safety and Health Amendment Bill 1999 A Bill for An Act to amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984. The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows: 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Occupational Safety and Health Amendment Act 1999. 5 page 1 109--1 Occupational Safety and Health Amendment Bill 1999 s. 2 2. Commencement This Act commences on 1 July 2000. 3. Principal Act In this Act the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984* is 5 referred to as the principal Act. [* Reprinted as at 15 May 1996. For subsequent amendments see 1998 Index to Legislation of Western Australia, Table 1, p. 176.] 4. Section 3 amended 10 Subsection (1) of section 3 of the principal Act is amended by -- (a) inserting after paragraph (b) in the definition of "employee" the following -- " (c) a police officer; "; 15 (b) inserting after paragraph (b) in the definition of "employer" the following -- " (c) a person by whom a police officer is employed; "; (c) inserting after the definition of "plant" the following -- 20 " "police officer" has the meaning given by section 5 of the Interpretation Act 1984; "; and page 2 Occupational Safety and Health Amendment Bill 1999 s. 4 (d) inserting after the definition of "transferred law" the following -- " "work" in relation to a police officer means any period of time during which a police officer is 5 performing a duty or function of his or her office; ".
