The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory enacts as follows:
This Act may be cited as the Public and Environmental Health Amendment (Emergency Reporting) Act 2022.
This Act commences on the day after the day on which the Administrator's assent to this Act is declared.
This Act amends the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011.
4 Section 55 amended (Report on public health emergency)
(1) Before section 55(1)

(1AA) The CHO must make a report under this section in relation to a public health emergency declared by an emergency declaration:
(a) after any extension of the emergency declaration under section 51(2); and
(b) after the emergency declaration ceases to be in force.
(2) Section 55(1)

In this Division:
amending Act means the Public Health Amendment (Emergency Reporting) Act 2022.
commencement means the day on which section 4 of the amending Act commences.
existing public health emergency means a public health emergency declared by an emergency declaration before the commencement that is in force on the commencement.
143 Reporting on existing public health emergency
(1) On and from the commencement, section 55, as
amended by the amending Act, applies in relation to an existing public health
emergency.
(2) The CHO must make a report in
relation to an existing public health emergency detailing:
(a) the events giving rise to any extension of the declaration that was made before the commencement; and
(b) the information mentioned in section 55(1)(b) to (e), as in force after the commencement.
(3) The CHO must give the report to the Minister within 3 months after the commencement.
(4) The Minister must table a copy of the report in the Legislative Assembly on the first sitting day after the Minister receives the report.
This Act is repealed on the day after it commences.
